Day 1 : Marrakech - Ait Benhaddou - Boumalene du Dades

After breakfast, we will be waiting for you at the lobby of your hotel. Our team will meet you there and pick you up at 08:00am to show you around some of the southeastern parts of our beautiful country. Your journey begins by crossing the highest road in Morocco, the Tizi n Tichka pass in the High Atlas Mountains. Along the way, we will stop for outstanding pictures of the Berber villages, landscapes, and nature. After a 4-hour drive, we will arrive at one of the famous Kasbahs, a fortified castle that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This site has been the backdrop for popular movies such as Gladiator, Game of Thrones, Lawrence of Arabia, and many more.

We will make a visit to this extraordinary site, followed by lunch either in the village of Ait Ben Haddou or at our next stop in Ouarzazate, which is a half-hour drive away. In Ouarzazate, also known as the Hollywood of Africa, you will visit and discover the Atlas Studios, the world’s largest film studio.Afterward, we will drive through the road known as the “Road of a Thousand Kasbahs” to the town of roses in Morocco, Kelaat M’Gouna. Here, you can see the pink flowers everywhere alongside the road during springtime and learn how the locals make different products from roses.Eventually, we will arrive at Boumalne Dades, also known as the Dades Valley. This calm town features a beautiful green valley. You will spend your first night in a hotel or riad, with dinner included.

Day 2 : Boumalene du Dades - Toudra Gorge - Merzouga

After your breakfast at the hotel, our team will pick you up for your second day of the tour. We will leave the town of Boumalne Dades and head towards Tinghir, home to the astonishing Todra Gorge. This place is visited year-round by rock climbers from all over the world. You may be lucky enough to see them climbing during your visit. The area is also home to nomads who still live in caves, bringing their animals (sheep, goats, donkeys) to the gorge for water.

Next, we will drive to Erfoud, a town famous for its fossils and fresh dates from the large Ziz Valley. After an hour’s drive, you will arrive at the beautiful Sahara Desert of Merzouga, one of the most visited sites in Africa. Your camel man will be waiting for you next to the dunes to take you on a camel ride to the desert camp. The ride takes around 1 hour and 20 minutes, including a stop for an incredible sunset at the top of a high dune in the middle of the desert. Your camel guide will take several memorable pictures for you along the ride.

Upon arrival at the well-equipped camp, you will be welcomed with Moroccan tea and cookies. In an hour, the staff will serve you a delicious dinner. After dinner, they will make a fire outside the camp under a sky full of stars. Enjoy and dance around the fire to the rhythm of Berber and African music. Overnight at the desert camp.

Day 3 : Merzouga Sightseeing

After your breakfast at the hotel, our driver/guide will pick you up by Jeep for one of the best experiences in the desert. Your visit to the Merzouga area starts from your hotel, driving by the high dunes of the desert. First, we stop for a panoramic view of the Sahara from a high mountain close to the dunes. Then, we drive to visit nomad families living next to the Moroccan/Algerian border to learn about their culture and how they live in such a harsh environment, sitting under their tents while having a cup of Berber Whiskey (mint tea).

After that, our trip resumes to the M’ifis mascara mountain mine. You’ll explore and get an idea of how workers extract minerals from the heart of the mountains. From there, we head to Khamlia village, settled by the “black-skinned” people, who are famous for their Gnawa music all around the world. Here, you can try Berber Pizza, a recommended meal in Morocco that this area is famous for, while listening and dancing to Gnawa music played by these friendly people.

Later, we visit the Sahara Oasis for a walk among its almond, palm, and fig trees, as well as various vegetable plants. From there, we drive you back to the hotel to get ready for a camel ride to the camp located on the other side of the desert. Your camel man awaits you next to the dunes to lift you by his camels to the desert camp. The camel ride takes around 1 hour and 30 minutes, including an amazing stop for an incredible sunset in the middle of the desert. Your camel guide will take several memorable pictures for you along the ride to the camp.

Upon arriving at the well-equipped camp, you will be welcomed with Moroccan tea and some cookies by the camp workers. In an hour, the staff will serve you a delicious dinner, followed by a fire outside the camp under a sky full of stars, where they will play Berber and African music for you to enjoy and dance around the fire. Overnight at the desert camp.

DAY 4 : MERZOUGA – RISSANI – NKON – AIT SAOUN PASS - OUARZAZATE :

Life is about seizing the early hours to gain an extra hour, especially in the desert where you can witness perhaps the most magnificent sunrise of your life. We always recommend waking up early for this unforgettable experience. After enjoying breakfast at the camp, you have two options to return to the village of Merzouga and continue your journey: either by camel or by Jeep. Departing from the serene desert, you head towards Rissani, a town near Erg Chebbi with a rich history spanning from the 14th to the 18th centuries. Here, you can explore the largest Market/Souk in the area, known for its bustling sheep and cattle market. Continuing onwards, you travel through Alnif, Tazarin, and N’kob, where you’ll stop for a relaxing lunch.

Afterwards, your journey takes you to Ouarzazate, where you’ll spend the night. Ouarzazate is known for its unique red earth architecture and stunning desert landscapes, making it a perfect place to unwind after a day of exploration.

DAY 5 : OUARZAZATE – TLOUATE KASBAH – HIGH ATLAS MOUNTAINS – MARRAKECH

After breakfast, your journey from Ouarzazate to Marrakech will begin with a visit to Kasbah Telouate or the Glaoui palace, an impressive abandoned castle dating back to 1860. You’ll have the option for lunch either in Telouate town or later amidst the scenic High Atlas mountains. Crossing the Tichka pass, known for its stunning landscapes and traditional Berber villages, you’ll continue onwards to Marrakech. Your day concludes with arrival at your hotel or riad in Marrakech, where you can relax and reflect on your adventure through Morocco’s diverse landscapes and historical sites.
