Our 2 day tour from Marrakech to Zagora will take you deep into the heart of the Sahara Desert. Excursions departing from Marrakesh to the desert include stops at Ait Ben Haddou, Ouarzazate, in the Sahara will include a camel ride over the stunning dunes, followed by an evening in a sumptuous tent under the star-studded sky for which the Sahara is renowned. ITINERARY: 2 days tour from Marrakech to Zagora
DAY 1 : MARRAKECH – HIGH ATLAS MOUNTAINS – DRAA VALLEY – ZAGORA
Your wonderful 2-day tour starts at 8:00 AM. We will pick you up from your hotel/riad in Marrakech and head towards the Zagora desert, passing through some of Morocco’s most stunning destinations.
On the way, you will experience the beauty of the Atlas Mountains, traveling along a road that reaches an altitude of 2260 meters. We will stop at scenic viewpoints to take great pictures and admire the beauty of the area, surrounded by ancient Berber villages.
You will visit the beautiful city of Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa,” a city that has attracted many film producers with its unique landscapes. You will enjoy a traditional lunch in this beautiful city.
Next, we arrive at Zagora, a place inextricably linked with the Sahara desert. After refreshing with a relaxing mint tea, camels will carry you into a wonderful world, through the sandy panoramic view of the unique Sahara sunset.
Finally, you will arrive at your traditional, well-equipped camp. In a relaxing mood, you will enjoy a traditional dinner, before listening to some local music around the campfire. Overnight at the desert camp.
DAY 2 : ZAGORA – AIT BEN HADOU KASBAH – MARRAKECH :
In the morning, it is recommended to wake up early for one of the most breathtaking sunrises of your life. Afterward, we will resume our trip back to Marrakech. First, we will travel towards the Draa Valley, passing by scenic views and tiny Berber villages along the road.
Next, we will head to Ouarzazate, where we will visit the famous Atlas Studios. Then, we will proceed to the UNESCO World Heritage site, the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. This site belonged to one of the most important families in Morocco between the 16th and 17th centuries, the Glaoui family. It has also attracted many filmmakers and featured in movies such as Jesus of Nazareth, “Gladiator,” and “Game of Thrones.”
A lunch is planned for you to enjoy in this historical area. Our tour will continue along a scenic road full of spectacular views, leading us back to the red city of Marrakech. We will drop you off at your hotel/riad, concluding the trip.
