THE ITINERARY OF 8 DAYS TOUR FROM TANGER
DAY 1: TANGER – CHEFCHAOUEN
From the ferry or airport in Tanger, we will pick you up and start to drive Chefchaouen, one of the stunning villages in the feet of Rif mountains. Chefchaouen Medina (old part of the city) with its blue color became one of the best towns to visit in Morocco surrounded by many funky arts, crafts stores, rooftop restaurants, and cafes. Night in Chefchaouen.
DAY 2: CHEFCHAOUEN – VOLUBILIS – MEKNES – FEZ
After your breakfast in the riad, we will drive to visit the Volubilis site, the Roman ruins. Another UNESCO World Heritage Site, one of the largest and most important archaeological sites in Morocco, built-in a fertile agricultural area and developed from the 3rd century BC. Then we are going to continue towards the city of Meknes, where you are going to see the famous historical gate of Bab Mansour, also the second known plaza in Morocco after the plaza of Jamaa El-fna in Marrakech, the plaza of Lehdim. Next, you are going to see the Basin of Sahrij Souani and explore the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum. Later on, we head to Fez city where we will spend the night.
DAY 3: FEZ SIGHTSEEING
After your breakfast at your riad, you meet your local guide and the exploration of Fez begins. You start with the Royal Palace, founded back to the foundation of the new Fez. Then Mellah, the Jewish quarter, where you see a 17th-century synagogue. Also the University of Al-Qaraouine, founded as a Mosque, then became one of the leading spiritual and educational centers of the historic Muslim world. As well as, Chouara Tannery, the largest and oldest medina quarter of the city, surrounded by leather shops with terraces from where you look down into the pits. Furthermore, you will take a walk around the old souks (markets) of Fez and wander between the narrow alleys of the old Medina. Have an amazing lunch in one of the narrow streets in the heart of the old Medina. After that, you drive to the north highest place in Fez, from where you will have an incredible view of the old Medina, in addition to visiting the Moroccan Pottery and Ceramics with real professional local craftsmen. Later on, we will pick you up back to your hotel/riad and spend the night in Fez.
DAY 4: FEZ – IFRANE – MIDELT – ZIZ VALLEY – ERFOUD – MERZOUGA
We will be leaving Fez straightway to Merzouga desert. You first have breakfast at your riad, then our adventure for today starts. Our first station to visit is Ifrane city, known as the Swiss of Morocco with orderly red-roofed houses. From there we will be at the Cedar forests of Azrou, where Barbary apes live. Our next stop is Midelt, the mineral mining and apple town lying between the two high Atlas and middle Atlas mountains. We have our lunch here, then recommence our way to Tizi N’Tlghamt “camel pass”, then to Errachidia. We will stop for a panoramic view in Ziz Valley, we will be driving through to Erfoud, and after that to Merzouga desert. Your camel man awaits you next to the dunes for lifting you by his camels to the desert camp. The camel ride takes around 1 hour and 30 minutes, including an amazing stop for an incredible sunset at the middle of the desert. Your camel guide will take several memorable pictures for you along the ride to the camp. Arriving at the well-equipped camp, you will be welcomed with Moroccan tea and some cookies by the camp workers. In an hour, the working staff serves you a delicious dinner, then they make a fire outside the camp under a sky full of stars, where they will be playing Berber and African music, while you enjoy and dance around the fire. Overnight at the desert camp.
DAY 5: MERZOUGA – RISSANI – TOUDRA GORGE – DADES VALLEY
Life is getting up an hour early to live an hour more, but on this day in the desert. For witnessing one that may be the best sunrises in your whole life, we always advise you to wake up early. After breakfast at the camp, there are two optional ways to get back to the village Merzouga for recommencing our trip. Either by camels or by Jeep. We depart the pretty desert to Rissani town. The closest to the Erg Chebbi. With the legendary history between the 14th and 18th centuries, you explore the largest Market/Souk in the area, mainly sheep and cattle market. After Rissani, we will continue to Tinghir, the town where Toudra Gorge is located. You visit the astonishing Canyons of Toudra Gorge, a place visited all year round by worldwide rock climbers for adventuring. You may be lucky to see them climbing during your visit. A place not far from where nomads still live in caves, they come with their animals “sheep, goats, donkeys” for water, also take water with them for their home use. Then you hit the road to the beautiful Dades Valley, a calm Berber town, with a beautiful green valley filled with fruit trees. Spend the night including dinner and breakfast.
DAY 6: DADES VALLEY – ROSE VALLEY – SKORA – OUARZAZATE – AIT BEN HADOU KASBAH – HIGH ATLAS MOUNTAINS – MARRAKECH
You enjoy your breakfast at your riad, then take the road named thousands of kasbahs. From Dades Valley to Ouarzazate, by Kelaat M’gouna, the city of roses, and Skoura town. We arrive at Ouarzazate town, referred to as Hollywood of Africa. Here you explore the Atlas film studio. Then we proceed to the Ait Ben Hadou Kasbah. A historical backdrop for several famous movies, including Game of Thrones, Gladiator, and Lawrence of Arabia. We have lunch at this unique spot, then we make our way to Marrakech, and always through the breathtaking landscapes of the Atlas mountains, through Berber villages, and Tizi N’tichka, the highest pass in Morocco. We stop from time to time at any worthy station, for some unforgettable photo shots and for admiring the places. We reach Marrakech around sunset and end the trip.
DAY 7: MARRAKECH SIGHTSEEING
In the morning at 09:30am, your local guide will be waiting for you at the reception of your hotel/riad. Your guide will accompany and show you all the historical sites of the red city Marrakech, including Jamaa El-Fna Square, one of the main cultural spaces in Marrakech founded in the 11th century and considered one of the busiest squares in the world. Additionally, you will visit the Saadian dynasty (1578 – 1603) tombs. You will also explore the Bahia Palace, one of Marrakech’s most impressive buildings, built at the end of the 19th century and intended to be the most eye-catching palace of all time. Moreover, you’ll see the 12th-century Koutoubia Mosque, the most important and largest worship place at that time. Later on, you will stroll inside the narrow streets of the old Medina “Old city”, and visit Souks/Markets. After lunch in one of the restaurants in the old Medina, you will hit the road to the modern area, visiting Majorelle Garden and the YSL Museum. Afterward, you will be picked up and returned to your hotel/riad.
DAY 8: TRANSFER TO MENARA AIRPORT MARRAKECH
Depending on your flight back, our driver/guide will make sure to pick you up from your riad/hotel to Menara airport in Marrakech
