DAY 1: FES AIRPORT – TO THE RIAD /HOTEL:

Upon your arrival at Fez airport, our team will be waiting to welcome you to Morocco. They will pick you up and transfer you to your riad/hotel in the heart of the old Medina or the new city of Fez. Spend the night in Fez.

DAY 2: FEZ – IFRANE – MIDELT – ZIZ VALLEY – ERFOUD – MERZOUGA:

We will leave Fez straightway to the Merzouga desert. After breakfast at your riad, our adventure begins. Our first stop is Ifrane city, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco” with its orderly red-roofed houses. Next, we visit the cedar forests of Azrou, where Barbary apes live. Our journey continues to Midelt, a town known for its mineral mining and apples, located between the High Atlas and Middle Atlas mountains. We have lunch here, then proceed to Tizi N’Tlghamt, also known as “camel pass,” and continue to Errachidia, where we stop for a panoramic view of the Ziz Valley. Driving through Erfoud, we finally reach Merzouga desert, where you spend your first night in a hotel/riad.

DAY 3: SAHARA DESERT SIGHTSEEING:

After breakfast at the hotel, our driver/guide will pick you up by Jeep for an unforgettable desert experience. The tour starts with a panoramic view stop of the Sahara from a high mountain near the dunes. We visit nomad families living near the Moroccan/Algerian border to learn about their culture and way of life in such a harsh environment, sharing a cup of Berber tea (mint tea) with them. Our trip continues to the M’ifis mascara mountain mine to explore and understand how workers extract minerals from the heart of the mountains. Next, we visit Khamlia village, inhabited by people famous for their Gnawa music. Enjoy a Berber pizza, a local specialty, while listening to and dancing to Gnawa music. Later, we visit the Sahara Oasis, taking a walk among its almond, palm, and fig trees and various vegetable plants. We return to the hotel to prepare for a camel ride to the desert camp on the other side of the dunes. The camel ride, lasting about 1 hour and 30 minutes, includes a stunning sunset stop in the middle of the desert. Your camel guide will take memorable photos for you along the way. Upon arrival at the well-equipped camp, you will be welcomed with Moroccan tea and cookies. After dinner, enjoy a fire outside the camp under a star-filled sky, where you can listen to Berber and African music and dance around the fire. Spend the night at the desert camp.

DAY 4: MERZOUGA – RISSANI – TOUDRA GORGE:

To witness one of the best sunrises of your life, we recommend waking up early. After breakfast at the camp, you have two options to return to the village of Merzouga: either by camel or by Jeep. We then depart for Rissani, a town with a rich history between the 14th and 18th centuries. Explore the largest market/souk in the area, particularly known for its sheep and cattle market. After Rissani, we continue to Tinghir, where Toudra Gorge is located. Visit the stunning Toudra Gorge canyons, a popular destination for rock climbers from around the world. You may even see climbers in action. Nearby, nomads still live in caves and come with their animals for water. Spend the night in Tinghir, with dinner and breakfast included.

DAY 5: TOUDRA GORGE – DADES VALLEY – ROSE VALLEY – SKORA – OUARZAZATE:

After breakfast at your riad in Toudra Gorge, we hit the road to the beautiful Dades Valley, a serene Berber town with a lush green valley filled with various fruit trees. Explore the Canyon of Dades Valley, known for its winding roads and unique rock formations called monkey toes. We continue along the road known as the “Route of a Thousand Kasbahs” from Dades Valley to Ouarzazate, passing through Kelaat M’gouna, the city of roses, and Skoura. Arrive in Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa,” and visit the Atlas Film Studios. Proceed to Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a historical site used as a backdrop for several famous movies, including “Game of Thrones,” “Gladiator,” and “Lawrence of Arabia.” Spend the night in Ouarzazate.
